We are offering cutting-edge weight loss therapy at Apex Wellness and want to use it to benefit you! Read on to learn more:

Navigating the Waters of Weight Loss Options

The weight loss industry is inundated with options that propose to be the best way to shed unwanted weight. Whether it be keto, intermittent fasting, time-restricted feeding, Weight Watchers, or one of the other thousand diet programs, there are many different “best options” when it comes to weight loss that might not actually be the best option. Or perhaps you’ve read about stimulant therapy, but what you don’t see are the negative side effects associated with it. Maybe you’ve tried some or all of these options yourself but remain stuck. Then maybe it’s time you consider an option that gives you REAL RESULTS!

Semaglutide therapy is a recently released therapy for long-term weight loss. Study participants averaged a loss of almost 15% of their body weight, and some lost close to 25%. Not only that, but they also improved their metabolic profile, lowering the risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. So think about your current weight, and then imagine weighing 20% less. Now, that’s something to get excited about!

We at Apex Wellness believe that the numbers on the scale should not be daunting. Semaglutide is an evidence-backed, scientific approach to help you reach your goals! But beyond the numbers, at Apex, we are even more impressed with the improved metabolic function that comes with the weight loss.

Why? Let us explain…..

Obesity is Related to Insulin Resistance

When the human body has an excessive amount of adipose tissue (body fat), then at the cellular level, the body is in a metabolic cascade of negative events: up-regulated system-wide inflammation, increased insulin resistance, and endothelial dysfunction, which all set the stage for early onset chronic conditions including cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, and other debilitating illnesses.

Simply put, insulin resistance is bad, and semaglutide is a proven way to target and reduce that resistance!

So yes, we want to see the number on the scale decrease and watch you look and feel your best, but ultimately, our goal is to increase your healthspan and lifespan. We all want to live our fullest and healthiest. Semaglutide is the key to unlocking that.

Now – for the science: Why Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide) receptor agonist, meaning it targets a certain type of receptor in various tissues in the body. This medication is derived from our own GLP-1 molecules that are produced in our intestines, and specifically the stomach.

So, what does that mean?

Appetite suppression and increased satiety – you get full faster! Beyond the obvious effect of appetite suppression and craving reduction, GLP-1 receptor agonists actually augment insulin secretion and decrease glucagon secretion in a dose-dependent glucose-mediated process. It also delays your gastric emptying and inhibits the liver’s gluconeogenesis (the formation of glucose from other molecules.) Remember that metabolic conversation at the start – this is exactly what we were talking about a direct improvement in insulin resistance.

Healthspan, Lifespan, and Risk Reduction

Sustain 6, a cardiovascular outcome trial, shows semaglutide therapy improved cardiovascular risk factors without any evidence of cardiovascular downstream dysfunction or disease, unlike many of the other weight loss drugs on the market!

Semaglutide does have the propensity to cause nausea related to the mechanism of action of delaying gastric emptying. This is something that typically abates, and that is normally only associated with the first few weeks of therapy or dosage increases. Our protocol takes the client through a gradual escalation in dosage for the first 8 weeks until the maintenance dose is achieved on week 9.

There are also a few contraindications for beginning treatment with this medication.

These include history of recurrent pancreatitis, family or personal history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, and pregnancy.

Removing the Barriers to Treatment

GLP-1 medical weight loss solutions like semaglutide and tirzepatide can be costly.  You may have come across pricing for semaglutide therapy in your research and been shocked to see some of the costs (typical market cost range from $500-1000/monthly), but we at Apex have leveraged relationships with our pharmacy partners to offer this product to our clients at a significantly reduced cost. Through our program, Apex LEAN, this medication therapy will cost you an average of $50/week for the duration of time you are on therapy. Affordable, game-changing therapy to lose weight and, in doing so, improve your healthspan and lifespan.
